Police said a 12-year-old was seriously injured after being struck by a driver Thursday morning in Damascus.
The 12-year-old is a John T. Baker Middle School student, Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) confirmed. According to a letter from the school principal, the student was walking to school.
Police stated the juvenile pedestrian was taken to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers responded to Ridge Road and Oak Drive for a reported crash at about 7:49 a.m. Thursday, according to the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD). Preliminary investigation found that a driver struck a 12-year-old pedestrian. The driver stayed at the scene.
