Police said a 13-year-old boy was arrested and charged with an August shooting in White Oak.
Police previously asked for the public’s help identifying multiple suspects involved in the Aug. 1 shooting in the 1500 block of November Circle. According to police near the time of the shooting, a group of four males and a separate lone male started shooting at each other. There were no reported injuries.
According to the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD), detectives identified the teen as a suspect and shared information with officers.
Last Friday, officers were doing proactive patrol in the 11500 block of Stewart Lane and saw a Toyota Rav4 make traffic violations, according to MCPD. Officers pulled over the car around New Hampshire Avenue and Elton Road.
Officers approached and “immediately recognized” one of the seven underage occupants as a suspect in the White Oak shooting. He was arrested and officers found a loaded 9mm handgun in his possession, according to police. The 13-year-old was charged with first-degree assault and possession of firearm-related charges. Police said he was taken to a juvenile detention center.
Police said a search of the car and occupants found two more loaded handguns and large amounts of marijuana. The other six underage occupants were arrested and charged with possession of firearm-related charges.
