Governor Hogan’s order to wear face coverings in retail stores or when riding public transportation went into effect Saturday, April 18.
Prior to that Montgomery County residents have been required to wear face coverings in grocery stores, pharmacies, big box stores and farmer’s markets since Monday, April 13.
Montgomery Community Media asked our Facebook followers this question, “Know anyone in Montgomery County making face coverings for the public?” We were overwhelmed with the response. We pulled together an initial list of places making face masks Monday. Then on Wednesday, we shared the post “Five more places in Montgomery County Selling Face Masks to the Public.”

Bows Etc. normally designs and manufactures hair accessories. With the coronavirus outbreak, they are also sewing face masks. Each mask is reversible, washable and made with 100% cotton fabric in happy, colorful prints. There is a pocket that allows you to put a filter inside for protection. Payable through Venmo or PayPal with a portion of each mask being donated to continue providing medical staff, first responders and grocery store employees with meals.
