Police said a 19-year-old has been charged with thefts of five vehicles across the county valued at a total of $185,064.
Jefferson Ventura, of College Park in Prince George’s County, faces five counts of motor vehicle theft and other auto theft-related charges, according to the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD).
According to police, detectives were alerted in April to thefts of high-end General Motors and Mopar vehicles from county dealerships. Police stated several privately-owned vehicles were also targeted.
Ventura was identified as a suspect with help from nearby jurisdictions Howard County, Baltimore County, and Prince George’s County.
An arrest warrant was issued Tuesday charging Ventura with the thefts, according to police. The warrant was served the next day while he was already in custody in the county for several auto theft charges from neighboring jurisdictions.
