Police said two teens were arrested and charged in a shooting at Taco Bell Cantina in downtown Silver Spring that occurred last month.
Souleymane Traore, 18, of Silver Spring is charged with attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault, and Maximus Jean Jerome, 19, of Silver Spring is charged with multiple counts of second-degree assault, according to the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD).
On June 23 officers responded to Taco Bell Cantina on Colesville Road for a reported shooting. According to police, Traore and Jerome confronted three male victims inside the restaurant, which led to a physical altercation.
Traore and Jerome left, and then Traore went back inside the Taco Bell and held the victims at gunpoint, according to police. Then, the brother of one of the victims tried to intervene, and Traore put the handgun to that person’s head and fired one round, which caused a graze wound to the head. Traore and Jerome then left.
The victim who was shot was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
On June 27 detectives identified Traore and Jerome as the two suspects and got an arrest warrant. Traore and Jerome were arrested last week on July 1. A search warrant was executed at Traore’s home, where evidence was recovered, according to police.
Traore and Jerome are being held without bond, according to police.
