Within a one-week span there were two assaults in the King Farm community of Rockville.
Rockville City Police investigated the separate assaults, the first of which occurred March 15 at 4:30 p.m. in the area of Redland Boulevard and Piccard Drive.
A woman told police that a man grabbed her buttocks and fled toward a nearby parking garage. The victim described her assailant as a Black man, 5-foot 10-inches, about 190 pounds with short, black hair. He was wearing a dark sweatshirt and sweatpants.
The second assault took place March 21 at 11:45 a.m. in the area of Redland Boulevard and Gaither Road. According to police, a woman said that a man grabbed her buttocks and fled. The suspect was described as a Black man, about 30 years, 5-feet 9 or 10-inches tall, weighing 200 pounds with short, black hair. Anyone with information should contact the Rockville Police’s Criminal Investigations Unit at 240-314-8938.
Police advise those walking alone to plan their route and make sure someone knows that plan. Don’t spend time looking down at a phone but rather be alert and aware of surroundings. Police also suggest walkers not wear ear buds or headphones or be talking on the phone in order to hear someone approaching from behind.
If someone is following, walk to the other side of the street and call 911. Also, police suggest making eye contact and taking mental notes about the suspect’s features.
