2 Fatally Shot at Nolte Park in Silver Spring

Updated May 28 at 2 p.m.

Montgomery County Police identified the two victims who were fatally shot May 26. They are Quincy Johnson of Takoma Park and D’Andre Wint of Lanham.

Despite lifesaving efforts, Johnson and Wint were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police currently have no suspect(s) in custody.

Two 20-year-old men were fatally shot Sunday night in Nolte Park in the 500 block of Thayer Avenue.

Officers from Montgomery County and Maryland-National Capital Park police responded to the scene at 7 p.m. after being told of a shooting.

When they arrived, officers located the two men, who were dead at the scene.

Police currently have no suspects in custody.

A Silver Spring resident reported in Nextdoor that she was nearby at the community garden and saw some young men at the basketball court. “All of a sudden there were 4 bangs,” she wrote on the social media site.

County Counci Vice President Kate Stewart posted on X, “I am very troubled by the gun violence last night at Nolte Park leading to the death of two young men. We are in touch with public safety leaders and are following the situation. I will continue to work with public safety leaders & our community to make our neighborhoods safe.”

Maryland Del. Lorig Charkoudian posted, “Holding the victims, their families, and the community in our hearts and prayers this morning. I’m fully committed to continuing to fight for all the policies necessary to #EndGunViolence”

Police continue to investigate the shooting.
