Two Joann fabric and craft stores in Montgomery County are among the roughly 500 in the U.S. slated to be permanently closed.
Marylanders who look to Joann Fabrics for their sewing and crafting supplies soon will have to shop elsewhere.
The store in Gaithersburg at 2A Bureau Drive and the one in the Westfield Wheaton Mall on Veirs Mill Road are on the list to be shuttered, according to USA Today.
Neither of the two stores in Montgomery County listed the closing on their website.
Other Joann stores in Maryland that will be closing include ones in Columbia, Bel Air, Parkville, Lavale, Hagerstown, California, Greenbelt, Frederick, Brandywine and Prince Frederick.
In January, the company issued a news release announcing it had begun voluntary Chapter 11 proceedings in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.
The release noted that the company planned to “facilitate a sale process to maximize the value of its business.”
