Two males were shot and received non-life-threating wounds in Montgomery Village Tuesday afternoon.
Montgomery County Police received a call at 12:26 p.m. for a report of a shooting in the 9900 block of Lake Landing Rd. When they arrived, officers saw the two victims.
While officers searched for the shooter, five area schools went into shelter-in-place. The schools were Watkins Mill Elementary School, Watkins Mill High School, Montgomery Village Middle School, Whetstone Elementary School and Stedwick Elementary School.
At about 2:30 p.m., police reported that a suspect was in custody.
Also Tuesday, Summit Hall and Rosemont Elementary schools went into shelter in place following a separate police incident, according to a Montgomery County Public Schools spokesperson. This concerned a police incident near Bohrer Park in Gaithersburg.
During the two separate police activities, no incidents occurred inside any of the schools. All shelter in place procedures were taken as a precautionary measure, according to the spokesperson.
Update: A suspect is in custody related to a shooting.
