2 Men Dead in Early Morning Shooting in Rockville

An early morning shooting in Rockville Thursday left two men dead, including one fatally injured from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

At 7:50 a.m., Montgomery County Police officers were dispatched to the 14900 block of Southlawn Lane for the report of a shooting. When the officers arrived, they found a 60-year-old male suffering from gunshot wounds.

He was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police then put out a lookout for a gray Toyota, and a stop was initiated at 7:55 a.m. at Southlawn Lane and Avery Road. As the officers approached the vehicle, they found a 54-year-old male inside a truck with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police are working with detectives from the Laurel Police Department, whose officers connected the Toyota Tacoma to a domestic related shooting Wednesday night.

The bodies of both men were taken to the office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the manner and cause of death, police said.
