2 Suspects Charged in Connection to Fatal Shooting in Silver Spring

Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD) arrested two suspects in connection with the fatal shooting of Carlos Alberto Ortiz, 35, in Silver Spring.

On Sept. 14 at around 4 p.m., PGPD responded to a shooting on New Hampshire Avenue. They found Ortiz, of Silver Spring, suffering from gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead on the scene, according to PGPD.

PGPD’s Homicide Unit identified and charged William Jaminton Pavon-Mancock, 27, and Jimmy Hernandez-Morales, 24, both of Silver Spring, with first and second-degree murder and other related charges, according to a press release. A preliminary investigation revealed that Pavon-Mancock and Ortiz knew each other and shot Ortiz during a dispute, according to PGPD.

PGPD said the Department of Corrections has Pavon-Mancock and Hernandez-Morales in custody without bond.
