24 County Students Earn National Merit College Scholarships

Twenty-four Montgomery County students were named National Merit Scholars on Wednesday. The graduating seniors will receive scholarships between $500 and $2,000 for up to four years from the colleges they will attend. This is the third round of awardees announced by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) for the 2024 program.

Forty-six Scholars from Maryland were named on Wednesday, joining more than 2,900 fellow winners from across the country in receiving these scholarships. An additional and final group of Scholars will be announced in July.

College-sponsored Merit Scholarship winners announced today are part of the distinguished group of more than 6,870 high school seniors who will receive National Merit Scholarships for college undergraduate study worth nearly $26 million. Earlier this spring, NMSC announced winners of corporate-sponsored Merit Scholarship awards and National Merit $2,500 Scholarships.

The 24 scholars named in this round of awardees are:

Timothy J. Lindstrom from Bethesda will attend University of Maryland and is considering a career in engineering.

Anthony J. Noya from Bethesda will attend University of Maryland and is considering a career in electrical engineering.

Nathan H. Tang from Bethesda will attend University of Maryland and is considering a career in computer science.

Vaishnavi Banda from Clarksburg will attend University of Maryland and is considering a career in computer science.

Patrick T. Foley from Clarksburg will attend University of Maryland and is considering a career in computer science.

Nora E. Rudmann from Derwood will attend the University of Central Florida and is considering a career in acting.

Ella J. Cauchi from Gaithersburg will attend the University of Maryland and is considering a career in chemical engineering.

Anthony J. Wang from Germantown will attend the University of Maryland and is considering a career in materials engineering.

Jeffrey L. Olsen from Kensington will attend Grinnell College and is considering a career in economics.

Carolyn L. Conner from North Potomac will attend University of Maryland and is considering a career in environmental science.

Sabrina Emily Chou from Potomac will attend the University of Southern California and is considering a career in consulting.

Elise L. Huang from Potomac will attend the University of Maryland and is considering a career in biochemistry.

Arjun R. Mohan from Potomac will attend the University of Maryland and is considering a career in applied mathematics.

Alvia Parvez Naqvi from Potomac will attend the University of Maryland and is considering a career in computer science.

Michelle Yu from Potomac will attend Emory College and is considering a career in applied mathematics.

Aylin E. Aarhus from Rockville will attend University of Maryland and is considering a career in journalism.

Shreyas Bachu from Rockville will attend the University of Maryland and is considering a career in computer science.

Samwit Dangol from Rockville will attend the University of Maryland and is considering a career in computer engineering

Yusuf A. Hasan from Rockville will attend the University of Maryland and is considering a career in computer engineering.

Matthias R. Nigmann from Rockville will attend the Rochester Institute of Technology and is considering a career in electrical engineering.
