3 Die in Separate Vehicle Collisions Saturday

Montgomery County Police identified the driver of a brown 2018 Indian Scout motorcycle as Ian Capps. Capps was pronounced dead at the scene.

Three people were killed Saturday in three separate vehicle crashes in Montgomery County.

The first fatality occurred on North Frederick Avenue near Travis Avenue in Gaithersburg at about 10:12 p.m., according to Montgomery County Police. Drivers of a Ram pick-up truck and a Nissan Altima were involved.

The adult male driver of the Nissan was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. An occupant in that car and the drive of the pick-up truck also were taken to the hospital, but their injuries did not appear life-threatening, according to police.

A second collision occurred at 1:51 p.m. in the 24800 block of Old Hundred Road in Dickerson. This crash involved drivers of a motorcycle and a combine harvester.

The adult male motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The operator of the combine harvester remained at the scene.

In the third fatal collision, a woman had to be extricated from her white Hyundai and taken to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Yanique Tyshay Jones, 33, of Rockville, was driving a 2019 Kia Stinger northbound on Goshen Road in Gaithersburg at 2:16 a.m. when she collided with a white 2021 Hyundai Venue being driving southbound on Goshen Road near Rock Elm Way.

According to police, the driver of a blue Kia was taken to the hospital, with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a blue Kia collided with a white Hyundai while traveling on Goshen Road near Rock Elm Way.

These are active and ongoing investigations. Detectives ask anyone who may have witnessed any of these collisions to 240-773-6620.

A formal news release will be distributed once more information becomes available, including the name of the decedent, following proper notification of next of kin.
