3 Germantown Men Arrested After Traffic Stop Reveals Loaded Firearms

Police arrested three Germantown men on multiple handgun charges following a traffic stop on Wednesday, Aug. 7. Officers from the Montgomery County Police Department took Matthew Bugembe, 20, Taejean Sipes, 21, and Deonte Roberts, 23, into custody after noticing their gold Ford sedan circling the area during an investigation.

Officers initiated the traffic stop after observing a violation. During the stop, they saw Roberts, seated in the rear, attempting to conceal a firearm. A search of the vehicle uncovered three loaded firearms and controlled dangerous substances. Sipes had a loaded Privately Manufactured Firearm (PMF), often referred to in the past as a “ghost gun”, in his waistband, Bugembe possessed another loaded PMF, and Roberts held a camouflage Hi-Point model firearm.

Police transported all three men to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit. They are currently being held without bond.
