3 Places to Camp This Spring in Montgomery County

As winter turns to spring, campsites open up across the county.

Camping season officially began last weekend, according to Montgomery Parks, and bathhouses and running water will now be available at different sites.

Here’s a list of three popular campsites around Montgomery County and how to book a stay.

1. Little Bennett Campground

Little Bennett Campground in Clarksburg is equipped with 91 wooden campsites, along with yurts, cabins, and RV pull-up stations. 22 of these sites have water, electric, and sewage systems.

A minimum of two nights is required for a reservation.

2. Robert C. McDonell Campground

Robert C. McDonell Campground located in Cabin John Regional Park in Bethesda offers seven walk-in sites featuring all the necessary amenities. Visitors can also make reservations.

Along with camping, Cabin John offers recreational sports, a playground, and trails for visitors to enjoy.

3. C&O Canal Quarters Program

The C&O Canal Quarters Program has its visitors stay in historic lockhouses that can up to fit eight people. There are seven lockhouses in total, five of which are in Montgomery County. Visitors can make reservations here.
