4 Arrested in Silver Spring Theft, Robbery Cases

Montgomery County Police (MCPD) arrested four people in connection with two separate theft and robbery incidents in Silver Spring, authorities said.

On Monday, March 10, at approximately 8:15 p.m., 3rd District and plainclothes officers responded to a reported theft at H&M in the 8500 block of Fenton Street, according to MCPD.

Police said two male suspects stole clothing from the store and fled, and were later apprehended by officers. 

Around 8:57 p.m., Central Business District officers (CBD) patrolling the 8600 block of Colesville Road were flagged down by a man who reported two women tried to steal his money and assaulted him.

The suspects were arrested and identified as 28-year-old Dana Brown of Derwood and 31-year-old Shyniqua Mooney of Silver Spring. 

All four suspects were taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit. 

The two men were charged with theft, resisting arrest, and related offenses; they are being held on a $100 bond. 

Brown and Mooney were charged with robbery and resisting arrest and are being held without bond.

The identities of the two male suspects have not been released.
