’48 Hours’ Features Clarksburg Dentist’s Depraved Heart Murder Case

The latest episode of the CBS television show “48 Hours” features a segment on the life of Sarah Harris, whose promising future was cut short by a drug overdose that a Montgomery County jury partially blamed on her boss and lover, Dr. James Ryan of Clarksburg.

Ryan was sentenced to 45 years after being found guilty of second-degree depraved heart murder and involuntary manslaughter for the fatal overdose of Harris, 25.

She weighed only 83 pounds when she died Jan. 26, 2022 at the home she shared with Ryan. The oral surgeon also was found guilty of possession with the intent to distribute midazolam and distribution of ketamine and diazepam.

The show features interviews with Montgomery County Police Detective Ian Iacoviello and members of Harris’ family.

“The Depraved Heart Murder” will broadcast Saturday at 10 p.m. on CBS and streamed on Paramount+.
