Montgomery County announced a $5.75 million grant is now available for nonprofit organizations in the county to apply to.
Nonprofits that focus unique programs on youth, seniors, residents with disabilities and underserved populations to address needs that are not covered by the county government are eligible to receive funds, according to a county press release.
County Executive Marc Elrich is encouraging any eligible nonprofit to apply.
“Increased resident needs and demands, rising costs due to inflation, along with the loss of federal COVID-19 funding means that these grant opportunities are more important than ever for nonprofit organizations to apply,” he said in the release.
Grant awards range from $50,000 to $375,000 over a year. Nonprofits can also apply for a multi-year proposal, according to the release.
There are four programs in the grant:
- The Youth Community Grants Program will provide $1.5 million for nonprofits that target the youth community’s needs in the county.
- The Seniors Community Grants Program will provide $1.5 million for nonprofits that assist the county’s senior community.
- The Residents with Disabilities Community Grants Program will provide $1.5 million for nonprofits that assist county residents with disabilities.
- The Underserved Communities Community Grants Program will provide a total of $1.25 million to nonprofit programs that assist underserved communities and has unique perspectives and solutions to issues within the community.
The Montgomery County Office of Grants Management organized a committee to review applications. The program is designed to be flexible in that nonprofits can identify what they need in order to best assist their communities, the release read.
Nonprofits can apply now until August 13 at 11:59 p.m.
