It’s Tuesday, April 2, and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.
1. Back to School: Students attending the public schools return following last week’s Spring Break.
2. County Council: The Montgomery County Council will meet at 9 a.m. The meeting will begin with two Proclamations recognizing Child Abuse Prevention Month by Councilmember Katz and Fair Housing Month by Council President Friedson with the County Executive.

3. Superintendent Search Community Forums: Montgomery County Board of Education is hosting three in-person town halls as they launch the search for a new superintendent this week. The first forum will be held today at Seneca Valley High School in Germantown at 6 p.m. School Board of Education President Karla Silvestre talks about the search process in this video:
4. Gardening and Health Workshop: The County is hosting four events this week during National Public Health Week. Today attend a gardening workshop at the Brigadier General Charles E McGee library in Silver Spring at 6:30 p.m. The topic is “Cultivating Health Through Gardening.” The workshop is free, but does require registration here.
5. (ICYMI) Coyote Attacks: The County confirmed the coyote that attacked two women Thursday, March 28 tested positive for rabies. The attacks occurred in the Ashton and Burtonsville areas. The county asks if someone’s pet had contact with the coyote, to please call the Office of Animal Services at 240-773-5900.
