5 Things to Know Today, April 6, In Montgomery County

It’s Thursday, April 6, and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. County Property Tax Credit: Maryland now requires howeowners to apply for the Maryland Homestead Credit. In the past, Montgomery County homeowners automatically received a $692 county “Income Tax Offset Credit” on their property tax bill for their primary residence. The deadline to apply for the credit is May 1.

2. Transportation: The MCDOT Pedestrian Safety Team will be outside of Veterans Plaza from 4 to 8 p.m. in downtown Silver Spring to promote pedestrian, driving, and bike safety to the residents of Montgomery County.

3. Poetry Night: Local poets Katherine Smith and Christopher Goodrich will read selections from their work, followed by conversation and an open mic. This event takes place at 7 p.m. at the Casey Community Center in Gaithersburg.  While advanced registration is not required, it is encouraged.

4. Montgomery County Recreation: Search and apply for all Recreation full-time and seasonal positions.
