1. Fall Recreation Programs:  Registration for county recreation activities and programs begins today.

2. Back-to-School Savings: Maryland Tax-Free Week continues through Saturday, Aug. 17. During the week, the state will suspend the 6% sales tax on clothing and shoes under $100 or on the first $40 for backpacks.

3. Montgomery County Agricultural Fair: The fair is open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. today. The carnival is open from noon to 11 p.m. Today and Wednesday is Family Day at the Fair, one-day wrist bands for the rides are on sale for $25. Find more things to know about the fair here.

4. Council Recess: The county council is currently in recess and will return to regular business in September.

5. Municipal Monday:  The Gaithersburg Mayor and Council do not meet today, their next session is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 3 at 7:30 p.m. The Rockville Mayor and Council do not meet today.
