1. Back to School: The new academic year is underway for Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS).

2. Recreation Center Cleaning: As part of the county recreation department’s summer cleaning, the following centers are closed through Monday, Sept. 2: Ross Boddy and Good Hope Neighborhood Recreation Centers, plus Germantown, Lawton, Longwood, Potomac and White Oak Community Recreation Centers.

4. Food Resources: See food giveaway events today in the county.
5. ICYMI: The new MCPS academic year started Monday. At Albert Einstein High School, the marching band, student dancers and poms kicked off the year outside the school.
