Today is Friday, Feb. 25 and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.
1. Food Resources: There are three food distribution events happening today in Montgomery County and one happening Sunday, Feb. 27.
2. Outdoor Happy Hour: Montgomery Parks hosts a series of winter happy hours at local parks in the county. Tonight come out to the Arora Hills Local Park in Clarksburg from 5-7:30 p.m. to enjoy craft beer from Elder Pine Brewing and Blending Company, food from Vittle in the Pines, and live music by Ted Garber. Join in outdoor games for the whole family.
3. MCCPTA Community Meeting on Gifted and Special Education: The Montgomery County Council of PTAs holds a virtual meeting tonight at 7 p.m. titled “Unmask Your Child’s Gift & Special Superpowers.” Registration is available online, here.
4. Summer Camp Fair: The recreation department holds two fairs to help parents plan their children’s summers. The first fair takes place Saturday, Feb. 26 from 9 a.m.-noon at the North Potomac Recreation Center.
5. Black History Month: Here are three events this weekend:
- Scotland Neighborhood museum in Potomac Saturday, Feb. 26 from 2 – 6 p.m. The recreation center will be transformed into a museum style exhibit with historical photos, storytime with Scotland Community founders, and more.
- Human Beatbox with Christylez Bacon, a program for children and families Saturday, Feb. 26 at 11 a.m. Register for virtual presentation here.
- Montgomery County’s Little-Known Rosenwald Schools presented by historian Ralph Buglass Sunday, Feb 27 at 2 p.m. Register for virtual presentation here.
