1. How to Recycle Your Tree: Many Montgomery County residents celebrate the holidays with a live cut Christmas tree. With the holiday season over, now is the time to recycle your tree.
2. Winter Coat Drive: Montgomery County Recreation is hosting a winter coat drive through Thursday, Jan. 5. Residents may make a monetary contribution via GoFundMe or donate new or gently used coats at numerous locations. Free coats will be distributed to those in need on Friday, Jan. 6, from 4-7 p.m. at Long Branch Community Recreation Center in Silver Spring.
3. Food Resources: See food giveaway events today in Montgomery County.
4. Libraries: Check out programs offered today with Montgomery County Public Libraries.
5. ICYMI: Boris Brajkovic was appointed unanimously as director of the Montgomery County Board of Elections. He replaces Alysoun McLaughlin, who has been acting director for a year since the retirement of Margaret Jurgenson.
