1. School Closures:

    • Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) are closed today. The announcement was shared Sunday afternoon via this video message.

    • Montgomery College is closed today.
    • The Universities at Shady Grove is closed today.

2. Snow Emergency and Closures:

  • Montgomery County: A snow emergency is in effect and County government is closed. Government facilities, including libraries, recreation and senior centers are closed. More details here.
  • City of Gaithersburg: All city facilities are closed, and programs are canceled. A snow emergency is in effect until Tuesday at 6 p.m.
  • City of Rockville: Rockville City Hall and all city facilities are closed. A snow emergency is also in effect. More details here.
  • State and Federal Offices: Maryland state government offices are closed statewide. Federal offices in the DC area are also closed, with maximum telework in effect.
  • Circuit Court: Montgomery County Circuit Court is closed. Court cases will be rescheduled

3. Marking Jan. 6 Anniversary: Today marks the fourth anniversary of the Capitol assault. Montgomery County Police Special Events Response Team (SERT) officers who defended the Capitol in 2021 share their experiences in this episode of Voices of Service.

4. Municipal Monday:  The Gaithersburg Mayor and Council meet today at 7:30 p.m. The meeting agenda is available online here. The Rockville Mayor and Council meet at 6:30 p.m. virtually, check the agenda online here. Two worksessions on the Lincoln Park Neighborhood Plan and the Town Center Master Plan start at 7:40 p.m. through 10 p.m.

5. Road Crews Ready for Snow: County trucks began road pre-treatment on Saturday to prepare for Sunday’s storm. MCM stopped by the salt barn in Rockville to get updates on the salt brine process and on what residents should know.
