5 Things to Know Today, Jan 7, In Montgomery County

Today is Friday, Jan. 7 and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. Schools are Closed: Montgomery County Public Schools are closed today because of severe weather conditions.

2. COVID-19 Vaccinations: Montgomery County is offering vaccinations for children ages 5-11 this weekend. Appointments are required. Also, boosters are now available for anyone, including children, age 12 and older.

3. Food Distribution: UpCounty Hub Drive-thru distribution from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Mother Seton Parish, 19951 Father Hurley Blvd. Germantown. Interfaith Works distribution from 11 a.m. to 12:3o p.m. with walk ups from noon to 12:30 p.m. Located at 751 Twinbrook Parkway in Rockville. On Saturday, distributions are scheduled for Silver Spring, Gaithersburg, and Olney. On Sunday a distribution is scheduled for Rockville. Information about each districtuion event is available on the county food resources webpage.

4. Virtual Open House:  MCM is hosting a virtual open house  today at 5:30 p.m. If you are interested in making media, we offer interactive media courses. The open house is the first step. The class is free. Registration is required.

5. Health Insurance: Maryland Health Connection enrollment is open now until Jan. 15.
