Maryland’s Draft Literacy Policy Survey: The Maryland State Department of Education is seeking feedback from the public on a new Draft Literacy Policy that aims to improve reading learning outcomes for students through multiple avenues, potentially including mandatory retention at the third grade level. Today is the last day to respond to the survey.

4. Friday Night Concerts: 

  • Wheaton’s TGIF summer concert series continues with DeSanguashington at the Marian Fryer Town Plaza, located at 2424 Reedie Drive and adjacent to the Wheaton Business Triangle and near the Wheaton Metro Station. A DJ set starts a 6 p.m. followed by the banke DeSnguashingon at 7 p.m. More info.
  • Wammie award-winner Melissa Q9inn Fox performs in Downtown Bethesda from 6 to 8 p.m. at the corner of Norfolk and St. Elmo avenues. More info.

5. Gravity Mountain Bike Courses Open:  Wheaton Regional Park is launching two mountain biking courses. Gravity Mountain Bike Park will open on Sunday, July 21 at 11 a.m. The mountain bike park is located in the woods behind the Adventure Playground. Wheaton Regional Park Shorefield area is located at 2000 Shorefield Road in Wheaton.
