3. Local Children’s Author: Many county residents recognize Link Hoewing for his work with the Fair Access Committee in the western exurbs around Poolesville. But lately Hoewing has taken on a new role – children’s author. MCM was in his living room as he read his newly released book to his grandchildren. Hoewing, who has some other children’s books that he’s working on, hopes adults can take some cues from his “Magic Words.”

4. Libraries: Check out programs offered today with Montgomery County Public Libraries.

5. ICYMI: Last week before the Olympics started, the Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart in Bethesda showed support for three alums who are swimming for the United States — including Katie Ledecky, who won a bronze medal Saturday.
