1. Community Health Fair and Health Screening: Kingdom Cares, a local non profit, and the county’s Asian American Health Initiative hold a health fair and health screening Friday, June 28 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Spring Parc Apartments, 17 Featherwood Ct. in Silver Spring.

2. Kennedy Shriver Aquatic Center Renovations: The center closes Friday, June 28 for at least two years. Current annual passes will be valid at the county’s pools in White Oak, Olney and Germantown, as well as the new Silver Spring Recreation and Aquatic center.

4. Chalk Fest: The second annual Downtown Silver Spring Chalk Fest takes place Saturday, June 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. along Ellsworth Drive.  Originally scheduled for May 4, the event was postponed due to weather.

5. Metro Fare Increase: Metro customers will see a fare increase starting Sunday, June 30. The last general fare increase was in 2017, with some fares rising last year. This adjustment raises most fares by 12.5%
