It’s Monday, March 13 and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.
1. Council President Briefing: Council President Evan Glass will meet with the media today at 1:30 p.m to discuss a Council meeting Tuesday on fire inspections with the Department of Permitting Services. The briefing will be streamed on the Council’s Facebook page.
2. Municipal Monday: The Gaithersburg Mayor and Council meet at 7:30 p.m. tonight for a work session. The meeting agenda and information packet is available online. The Kensington Town Council meets virtually tonight at 7 p.m. The agenda and information to join the meeting via zoom may be found online. The Rockville Mayor and Council’s regular meeting takes place Wednesday at 7 p.m. rather than tonight.
3. Takoma Park Ward 5 Meeting: The Takoma Park police and Councilmember Cara Honzak meet with Ward 5 residents to discuss public safety issues in Ward 5. Police will provide an update on recent incidents in Ward 5 and an overview of crime trends and security measures put in place to address them. The meeting will be held in person at the Community Center at 7 p.m. and virtually via Zoom. Register to participate in the Zoom webinar.
4. Congressional Art Competition: Students who live in the eighth congressional district and are planning to participate have one week left to submit their artwork. The winning artwork will hang in the U.S. Capitol for one year.
5. Foster Parent Information Meeting: Montgomery County Foster Parent Services holds a virtual meeting tonight at 6:30 p.m. for anyone interested in learning about becoming a foster parent in the county.
