1. Council President Briefing: Council President Kate Stewart will host a media briefing at 1:30 p.m. to discuss Council matters, including the recent United in Service and Support webinar, which aimed to assist residents impacted by federal changes. 2. Council Committee Meetings: Three council committees will meet today:

  • The Transportation & Environment committee meets at 9:30 a.m. in the 7th Floor Hearing room with this agenda.
  • The Public Safety committee meets at 10 a.m. in the 2nd Floor Davidson Memorial Hearing room with this agenda.
  • The Planning, Housing, & Parks committee meets at 1:30 p.m. in the 7th Floor Hearing room with this agenda.

3. Kensington Town Hall on Housing: Councilmembers Natali Fani-González and Friedson have introduced a package of zoning changes, tax incentives, and additional funding for homeowner assistance program aimed at increasing housing in certain areas of the county. The package will be the focus of a Town Hall at 6:30 p.m., held in person at Kensington Town Hall and virtually on Zoom.

4. Municipal Monday:  The Gaithersburg Mayor and Council meet at 7:30 p.m. Find the agenda here and the agenda packet here. The Rockville Mayor and Council meet at 5:30 p.m. today. Find the agenda here. Earlier in the day at 8:30 a.m., the Mayor and Council will participate in a leadership planning meeting. 5. County Offers Aid: The Montgomery County Council hosted a webinar last week to support federal workers. Titled United in Service and Support, it was the first in a series of online efforts to provide information and guidance government employees. One attendee, Mary Beth Hastings, shared a personal story with participants.
