5 Things to Know Today, May 13, In Montgomery County

1. Elections: Tuesday is Primary Election Day in Maryland. Visit Election 2024 for our voter’s guide with candidate statements, voting information and the latest news.

MCM spoke with Dr. Gilberto Zelaya, Public Information Officer with the county Board of Elections, who shared some advice for residents.

2. Summer Recreation Programs:  Registration for county recreation activities and programs begins today.

3. Municipal Monday:  The Gaithersburg Mayor and Council meet at 7:30 p.m. for a work session on tenant protections. The agenda and agenda packet are available online.  The Rockville Mayor and Council meet for a retreat to identify 2-4 focus areas for the Council. Find the meeting agenda online.

4. Yoga at the Library: Weekly sessions at the Gaithersburg Library focus on American Yoga practice, movement with breathwork and meditation. The session consists of 30 minutes of movement followed by 15 minutes of breath work and meditation. Session starts at 6:45 p.m. More information.

5. Virtual Career Workshops:  The Commission on Women hosts a series of career workshops during May. The topics for the remaining three virtual workshops include preparing a resume, building your brand, and wage negotiation. Today’s session covers resume writing and begins at 7 p.m. Workshops are free, registration is required. Learn more and register here.
