1. Bike to Work Day: The annual event hosted by Commuter Connections and the Washington Area Bicyclist Association takes place today in the D.C. region. More than 100 pit stops are set up across the region with 16 pit stops in the county. The free pit stop events offer refreshments, music and local vendor displays at varying times throughout the morning of May 17. There will be free raffle prizes and a grand prize raffle of at least one new bike at each of the MCDOT-sponsored pit stops.
2. Montgomery College Commencement: The college will award degrees to more than 3,000 students Friday at 10:30 a.m. The event will take place on the Rockville Campus Athletic Field and will honor students from the Germantown, Rockville, and Takoma Park/Silver Spring campuses, as well as those from Workforce Development and Continuing Education programs. 4. Spring Carnival: Jolly Shows hosts this spring carnival on the parking lot of the former Lakeforest Mall from now through May 27. The event features more than 30 attractions, including carnival rides, games, and food wagons.
5. House and Garden Tour: Maryland House and Garden Pilgrimage annual tour on Saturday includes 10 homes and gardens Saturday. Tickets for the tour proceeds benefit Scotland African Methodist Episcopal Church on Seven Locks Road in Potomac.
