5 Things to Know Today, May 26, In Montgomery County

Today is Friday, May 26. Here are 5 things to know and the 10 day weather forecast as we head into the Memorial Day weekend.

1. Friday Night Concert: The Latin Pop Rock band Ocho de Bastos perform in Downtown Bethesda tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the corner of Norfolk and Del Ray Avenues. Norfolk Avenue is closed to cars from Del Ray to St. Elmo Avenue.

2. Hometown Holidays Music Fest: Rockville hosts the free festival at the city’s Redgate Park on Saturday, May 27 and Sunday, May 28 from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. There will be two states of entertainment, a Taste of Rockville, and activities for the whole family.

3. Missing Man Table:  The Restaurant Association of Maryland member restaurants across the state will honor fallen, missing or imprisoned U.S. Military Service Members with a Memorial Day tradition.

4. Make a Splash with Real Mermaids:  Westfield Wheaton Mall hosts a free event Saturday, May 27 from noon to 4 p.m. to celebrate the return of Disney’s The Little Mermaid movie.

5. County Outdoor Pools: Montgomery County has seven outdoor pools, all of which open Saturday, May 27 at 11 a.m. for the preseason.

 And One More Thing:  Students in the MCPS’ trades program recently completed construction of a new home in Silver Spring. The house was designed and built by more than 300 students, representing all 26 high schools. A cornerstone celebration and open house was held on May 23.
