Today is Monday, Nov. 1, and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.
1. Council Media Briefing: Council President Tom Hucker and Vice President Gabe Albornoz will hold a virtual media briefing today at noon to discuss Bill 16-21 on environmental benchmarking requirements, and several bills related to public safety and policing. Public Health Emergency Preparedness Manager Sean O’Donnell will provide a public health update. The briefing will be streamed on the Council’s Facebook page here.
2. Municipal Monday: The Poolesville Town Commissioners are scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. virtually. The agenda and information to watch the meeting may be found here. Rockville’s Mayor and Council meet virtually at 7 p.m. with a full agenda.
3. Gaithersburg Election: Registered voters in the city of Gaithersburg will vote for mayor and two city councilmembers on Nov. 2. This is the first year that Gaithersburg has provided the option for mail-in voting and ballots may be requested online or in person at Gaithersburg City Hall. Information on the candidates in this election is available online here.

4. Parking Enforcement: The county will resume the booting and towing parking enforcement program today which has been suspended since March of 2020 due to the pandemic.
MCDOT will reinstate the booting and towing parking enforcement program starting on Nov.1.

5. Park Closures: The Rachel Carson Conservation Park in Olney is closed today as part of Montgomery Parks annual deer population management program. The schedule of park closures is available here.
