1. Holiday: Today is the Federal Veterans Day holiday to honor both active-duty military as well as veterans. County and municipal governments all are closed. Check this list of closures for the County and the cities of Gaithersburg and Rockville for the details.

3. Veterans Day Observances: Gaithersburg will hold their annual Veterans Day Observance ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. at the City Hall Concert Pavilion. Rockville also will hold their annual ceremony to honor veterans on Saturday at Veterans Park,
4. Remembrance Ceremony: The County Commission on Remembrance and Reconciliation will dedicate two historical markers in Rockville on Saturday, Nov. 11 from 2-4 p.m. The markers are for John Diggs-Dorsey and Sidney Randolph, two black men who were abducted from the County jail and killed in Rockville in 1880 and 1896. There are three known victims of racial lynchings in Montgomery County. Earlier this month, a historical marker for George W. Peck, who was lynched in 1880, was dedicated in Poolesville. 5. Bike and Scooter Class: Adults ages 18 and older can learn to ride a bike in about three hours. The class is scheduled for Saturday at the White Oak Recreation Center parking lot in Silver Spring from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Register for the class here.
And One More Thing: On Saturday, Nov. 11, veterans and active duty personnel can skate for free at the Ice Arenas in Wheaton and Cabin John Parks.
