1. Montgomery College: There are no credit classes for Montgomery College today for its collegewide Advising Day. See more here.
2. Swearing-In: There will be a swearing-in ceremony for Police Chief Marc Yamada and Fire Chief Corey Smedley today at Wheaton High School.

3. Council Meeting: The county council will meet today starting at 9 a.m. with separate proclamations recognizing National Pedestrian Safety Month and the 75th anniversary of the Gaithersburg/Germantown Chamber of Commerce. The meeting will be livestreamed here.
4. Lakeforest Mall Plan: Thanks to a $1 million federal Community Project Funding grant, Russell Avenue by the Lakeforest Mall in Gaithersburg will be reworked to be safer and more pedestrian friendly.

5. ICYMI: Last week, Olympic gold medalist swimmer Katie Ledecky came back to her alma mater, Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, in Bethesda. The most decorated female Olympian in U.S. history met with excited students as local leaders unveiled a road marker for “Katie Ledecky Lane” outside the school and proclaimed it “Katie Ledecky Day” in the county.
