In celebration of Women’s History Month, the Montgomery County Commission for Women, Montgomery County Public Libraries, and Friends of the Library are hosting the seventh annual Girl Power Contest. This year’s theme, “Empowering Women,” aligns with the National Women’s History Alliance’s theme of ‘women who advocate for equity, diversity, and inclusion.’
County residents aged five and up can submit a short story, poem, drawing, or entry in any medium by March 31. Entries must address the prompt: ‘What business would you create in Montgomery County and what impact would it have on the girls and women in our community?’
The commission will announce winners in late April and select them from four categories: elementary school, middle school, high school, and adult. Entries from those under 18 must include written permission from a parent or guardian.
To submit entries or for more information, visit the Commission for Women’s website.
