A Boyds man who led police on a car chase that killed his juvenile passenger was sentenced Wednesday to serve eight years in prison, according to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office (MCSAO).
Antoine Randall, 20, pleaded guilty in September to gross negligent manslaughter by motor vehicle, fleeing and eluding marked police vehicle by failing to stop resulting in death, and failure to return or remain at the scene of an accident, according to MCSAO.
In February, the state attorney general’s office shared dashboard and body-worn camera footage from the fatal police pursuit.
According to authorities, in Dec. 2023, county police officers tried to conduct a traffic stop twice on Randall, who was driving a Nissan Maxima in Wheaton. Randall fled the scene both times and during the second time he struck a police car in the process. Police started a pursuit, and Randall lost control on Georgia Avenue at Henderson Avenue. He struck a median, became airborne, and struck two cars. The drivers and one passenger in those two cars had non-life threatening injuries, but Randall’s front seat passenger — a juvenile male — was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers were injured. Randall had non-life threatening injuries.
