On Sunday, Sept. 17, the Wheaton Ice Arena will hold an open house from 9-11 a.m. in an effort to educate those interested in ice sports and other related activities. Stations for hockey, speedskating, and figure skating will be set up throughout the rink.
Located at 11717 Orebaugh Ave. in Wheaton, the open house is free but there will be a $4 per person fee to skate which will include rentals. Representatives of clubs that use the Wheaton Ice Arena will be in attendance to help facilitate. Information regarding group lessons, birthday pirates, camps and clinics held at the arena will also be available.
“The Open House is a great opportunity for members of the community to learn about and experience ice skating and ice sports,” said Kimberley Ransfield, the Wheaton Ice Arena facility manager. “There will be lots of information available for those looking to join a team or club or who are interested in taking group lessons.”
The stations will be broken into 30 minute segments as follows.
- 9:15–9:45 a.m. Try ice skating station
- 9:30–10 a.m. Try ice hockey station
- 9:45–10:15 a.m. Try speedskating station
- 10–10:30 a.m. Try ice skating station
