Police said a gas leak at New Hampshire Avenue and University Boulevard caused some road closures Tuesday.
As of about 9 a.m., the 1300 block of University Boulevard is closed and University Boulevard East going into Prince George’s County is closed until further notice, according to Takoma Park Police.
Northbound New Hampshire Avenue is open to traffic.
A six-inch gas line was struck around midnight, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer. He stated Washington Gas pressure control crews would reduce pressure before making repairs. There was no evidence of underground migration to surrounding businesses, according to Piringer.
Police said Washington Gas is working to address the leak.
