Governor Larry Hogan recently announced the first steps towards reopening the state. This includes allowing people to go to places like golf courses, tennis courts, state parks, and playgrounds. Meanwhile, local officials are urging residents to stay home except for essential travel and approved outdoor activities to help prevent the spread of the virus.
Montgomery Parks has started to reopen limited outdoor activities. While outdoor tennis courts and archery ranges are now open, playgrounds and other athletic courts and fields will remain closed. Local park officials plan on reopening campgrounds and driving ranges soon. Restrictions have also been lifted from boating and fishing activities for recreational purposes. County recreation facilities will remain closed in the meantime.
As of Friday, May 8, The Maryland Department of Health reported 6,316 confirmed COVID-19 cases, and 324 related deaths in Montgomery County. Tmore than 30,000 cases throughout the state according to health officials.
