Montgomery Parks is celebrating the reopening of Hillandale Local Park after considerable renovations and improvements.
Headlined by a ribbon-cutting ceremony, the park is set to reopen on Nov. 4 with festivities running from 1-3 p.m. followed by games and refreshments.
The park has been closed since April 2022 when renovations first began.
The renovations include a new restroom and picnic shelter, multi-age playground, log challenge course, lighted basketball courts, a “high performance” athletic field, walking trails and tree preservation and stormwater management facilities.
Guests are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items in support of the St. Camillus Food Pantry.
The renovation celebration will include a brief speech followed by activities such as pumpkin painting and giveaways. In addition to the food drive, the Hillandale Volunteer Fire Department will be having a touch-a-truck event.
The Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection will be offering saving tips and holding a bulb exchange. The exchange allowed people to exchange high-energy bulbs for up to three energy-efficient bulbs.
