1. New Hilton Hotel Opens in Germantown

A new Hilton hotel and the first in the region under a new brand opened Oct. 31 in Germantown.  It is the second-ever Spark by Hilton hotel after the first location in Connecticut, and it is the first location in Montgomery County and the D.C. region.

2. County Announces Expanded Recycling Programs

On America Recycles Day, Montgomery County announced expanded recycling programs with more items including mattresses and box springs, working medical equipment and more electronic items.

 

3. Clarksburg High School Principal Announces Retirement

The principal of Clarksburg High School will retire from his position effective Jan. 1. Principal Edward Owusu announced his retirement from the school and from Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) on Monday, according to the school district.

4. Residents in High Crime Areas Eligible for Security Camera Rebate

Residents in certain high-crime areas are eligible for rebates if they purchase a security camera for home or business. The goal is to reduce crime and give police another tool to both prevent and solve crimes.
