Folashade Epebinu, a senior at Seneca Valley High School, won the 2023 “Councilmember for a Day” contest.
County Councilmember Will Jawando announced Epebinu as the winner Monday.
She will join the county council on Tuesday for a proclamation in her honor and to participate during the council session while sitting at the dais. She will also get a $100 gift card.
Epebinu’s winning video advocated for expanding access to affordable childcare, per a release from Jawando’s office. She highlighted a child development program at Seneca Valley High School.
She is dual-enrolled at Montgomery College studying general engineering, per the release. She has served on education committees that advise Montgomery County Public Schools and currently serves as the Secretary of the Maryland Youth Advisory Council.
