Friday, December 8
Photos with Santa: Reserve a time for a family photo with Santa at the Westfield Montgomery Mall on the lower level near Macy’s from now through Dec. 24. Photo packages start at $39.99. The Little Mermaid A Family Pantomime: The British Players present a retelling of the fairy tale at the Silver Spring Stage from now through Jan. 7. Tickets cost $25. Gaithersburg’s Arts Barn Theatre: The community theater group Montgomery Playhouse performs the play ‘Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberly’ written by Lauren Gunderdson and Margot Melcon in 2016. The play centers on Mary Bennet, the middle sister in Jane Austen’s novel Pride and Prejudice. The show closes on Sunday with three performances this weekend. Recommended for ages 12 and up. Saturday, December 9
Holiday Extravaganza: Celebrate the Holidays at the North Potomac Community Center Saturday, Dec. 9 from 3:30-6:30 p.m. Activities include crafts, a hot cocoa bar, entertainment, and games. Participants will also have the opportunity to take photos with Santa, Mrs. Claus or the Grinch. Free but pre-registration is required. Garden of Lights: The outdoor exhibit at Brookside Gardens is a wintertime tradition in the county and continues through Sunday, Dec. 31. The holiday light display features more than one million colorful LED lights shaped into hand-crafted, original art forms of flowers, animals and other manifestations of nature. Open daily from 5:30-9 p.m., except Nov. 20-23 and Dec. 24-25. Tickets are $10 per person and must be purchased online. Brookside Gardens is located at 1800 Glenallan Avenue in Wheaton. LuminoCity Winter Light Festival: Explore three different themed spaces in this outdoor, holiday-themed light show suitable for the entire family. The event lasts approximately 90 minutes and will run through Jan. 15, 2024. Tickets start at $20. Breakfast with Santa: Santa Claus is coming to Dave & Buster’s Silver Spring Sunday, Dec. 10 at 9 a.m. Families can enjoy a breakfast buffet, video game play, kid-friendly crafts, and a personal photo with Santa. Children’s Christmas on the Farm: Families with children ages 3 to 12 will enjoy a number of crafts and activities including candle-dripping, ornament and card making at the stone farm pavilion at the Stables of Rolling Ridge Sunday, Dec. 10 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. There will also be a station to make mini-wreaths and everyone can enjoy roasting marshmallows and making s’mores. Winter City Lights: This light display features over 1 million lights spread across 19-acres. Also includes 33 bonfires, a 1.5-mile-long trail of Christmas lights and displays through the woods, a 52-foot-tall Christmas tree made of lights, a snow tubing ride and concessions with snacks. The display is open from now through Dec. 30. Tickets start at $41 and increase as Christmas approaches. Tickets must be purchased for a time-entry online.
