William Reyes Garcia, 33, of Silver Spring, was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for his role in a drug trafficking conspiracy.
Garcia also was sentenced Dec. 6 to five years of supervised release for conspiracy to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute cocaine and possession of ammunition as a felon. according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Maryland.
According to Reyes Garcia’s plea agreement and other court documents, he and co-conspirators participated in a drug trafficking organization between Sept. 2020 and Jan. 2022 that distributed at least five kilograms of cocaine. Reyes Garcia was considered a manager or supervisor of the organization.
Cocaine packets were shipped from Brownsville, Texas to a business in Beltsville, Maryland or the home of one of the co-conspirators, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
The drug trafficking organization is believed to have distributed cocaine and other drugs in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties and the D.C. metropolitan area.
Law enforcement officers searched locations associated with Reyes Garcia’s residence on Jan. 20, 2022 and recovered more than 139 grams of cocaine and more than 101 kilograms of marijuana; a privately manufactured 9mm semi-automatic handgun, commonly known as a “ghost gun”; a magazine loaded with 22 rounds of 9mm ammunition; 53 rounds of .40-caliber ammunition; 42 rounds of .45-caliber ammunition; 50 rounds of .380-caliber ammunition; firearms parts, including a frame, slide, barrel, barrel spring, and magazine; and drug paraphernalia, including digital scales with drug residue and a money counter.
Reyes had a previous felony conviction and was prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition.
Co-defendants Fabricio Alexis Rivera, 32, of Rockville and Rodney Ricky Rivera, 29, of Beltsville previously pled guilty and are awaiting sentencing. Other co-defendants have either been sentenced or have charges pending.
