Michael Jordan’s Air Jordans and Kanye West’s Yeezys have some new competition. And from a very unlikely source.
“Kitten” by the 100 year-old retired Brig. Gen. Charles McGee, one of the last living Tuskegee Airmen (or, P-51B “Kitten” of Brigadier General Charles McGee Men’s Low Top Canvas Shoes) have officially entered the sneaker wars.
McGee’s new line of sneakers are sold by the nonprofit, CAF Rise Above, which aims to serve as an “educational outreach program that brings the history and legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen and Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) to life in communities and classrooms everywhere.”
McGee, a Bethesda resident, was promoted as a brigadier general Feb. 4 by President Donald Trump. During his 30-year military career, he flew 409 total combat missions in three wars: World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.

CAF Rise Above describes the shoes as having “markings of Brig Gen McGee’s P-51 Mustang Kitten, the aircraft he flew in the European Theater of World War II.”
The shoes come in black and white and are available in men’s sizes. They cost $59.
