When it comes to New Year’s resolutions, “exercising more” always finishes at or near the top of most lists. Montgomery County is making it easier to fulfill that resolution.
Montgomery County Recreation’s RecFit passes will be free for County residents again in 2024. The free RecFit pass provides access to fitness rooms, open gym (drop-in) activities and game rooms at all community recreation centers.
The county provided free RecFit passes for the first time last year and saw a dramatic increase in the number of passes issued, from 26,065 in 2022 to more than 100,000 in 2023.
“One of our most popular services offered to residents is free access to the County’s fitness centers,” said County Executive Marc Elrich in a statement.
Residents may work out with equipment in the fitness rooms, enjoy table tennis in the game rooms, participate in drop-in pickleball, volleyball, basketball and other activities.
The passes are available at any County recreation center during regular business hours. Proof of residency (a valid photo ID with an address or a photo ID with a current utility bill) must be provided by County residents to receive the free pass. Non-County residents can purchase a pass at a price of $20 for one month, $80 for six months and $150 for one year. Visit the website for more information.
Passes issued in 2023 remain valid, a new pass is not required.
