Maryland State Highway Administration officials announced they will resurface and repair almost two miles of New Hampshire Avenue (Maryland Route 650) beginning this week.
The $4.6 million project concerns a 1.75 mile stretch from Milestone Drive to Shaw Avenue in Silver Spring. The work is expected to be completed in the fall.
It includes milling and resurfacing the road and patching and upgrading ramps and sidewalks in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. The concrete median will be repaired, and driveway aprons reconstructed. Concrete curbs, gutters, stormwater runoff inlets and drainpipes are scheduled to be repaired or replaced.
New pavement markings and landscaping also are planned.
Contractor E&R Services Inc., of Lanham, will perform the work.
